Like any other discipline, art has its own language. In order to speak intelligently about art and in order to evaluate your own and other artists' works, you need to know specific terms and their applications. This seminar will reveal how artists, instructors, and critics discuss art.
Added Bonus: Everyone who signs up for this class will have online access to the recording of the session, a pdf of the session for easy reference, and the chance to submit three works (accompanied by a short statement that will help us understand your background and goals) for evaluation during the live seminar. We will show you how to describe what you're doing, how to think about what you could be doing, and how to take the next step in your art.
Each artist whose work is under review will have the opportunity to talk directly to us during the live seminar. If your work is chosen for review, you will be notified the day before the live seminar.
PLEASE NOTE: Deadline for sending in artwork is December 13, 2009; however, artwork will be reviewed on a first come, first served basis, so send yours in now! (Depending on the number of entries, we may not be able to assess every artist's work.)
How to Submit Your Work After You Register for the Seminar: You may submit up to 3 of your works (no larger than 1 megabyte each in size), via email to Jennifer Lepore.
Please be sure to write "ART CRITIQUE" in the subject line of your email.
Please include a short (no more than 3 to 5 sentences) statement about your background and your goals as an artist.
If you used reference photographs for the works you're asking us to evaluate, include the reference photos, as well.
Images should be no smaller in size than 400 x 400 pixels & the file size should be no larger than 1.3 megabytes.
DEADLINE: Images will only be considered for evaluation if submitted on or before 12/13/09. Artwork will be reviewed on a first come, first served basis, so send yours in now! We welcome your participation even if you choose not to submit your art, in which case you can register up to 1 pm (EST) on 12/15/09.
