Japanese
toys gross $700K in November auction
Over $700,000 of some of the rarest Japanese superheroes, die-cast, vinyl, robots, and space toys was sold at Morphy's Nov. 13-14 auction in Denver, Pa.
New Jersey-based collector Marc Solondz consigned the very impressive
toy collection of nearly 1,500 lots, with
most of these toys either boxed or in their original plastic packaging.

In our neck of the woods folks started displaying holiday lights two
weeks before Thanksgiving. Don't get me wrong I like lights, but they

Grandma's quilts provided warmth from the heart
Growing up in one of the poorest areas in the state of Ohio was seldom
fun but was often challenging. A lot of people went hungry every day,
were homeless or without jobs. Somewhat like today's economy situation.
And while some felt more fortunate than others, they were far from
being wealthy. For us, there never seemed to be enough money to go
around, but there was always food on the table and we always had plenty
of quilts for warmth, thanks to my grandmother.

Glass museum launches drive to clear mortgage
WESTON, W.Va. Match the Money and the Museum Is Ours! was the
rallying cry that launched an ambitious fund drive for the Museum of
American Glass in West Virginia. Dean Six, Executive Director of the museum, told nearly 100 attendees
that "an anonymous donor has stepped forward who will match every
dollar with a dollar."

Art restoration company reveals $300K Duncanson painting
CINCINNATI The dingy dirty canvas showed up at Doug Eisele's Old
World Restorations in Cincinnati in March 2009. The owner of the
painting, a dentist from London, Ky., had rescued the work from an
obscure corner in ClaireBourne Antiques
in Lexington by paying $900.
When Eisele saw the painting he remarked, "That's a nice painting," which turned out to be an understatement of some magnitude.

Inaugural Baltimore Big Flea draws the crowds
TIMONIUM, Md. More than 8,500 show-goers attended opening day of the
Baltimore Big Flea D'Amore Promotions' newest venture and business
was brisk.
The Baltimore Sun called the event a "new kind of flea market" where fine antiques meet moderately priced collectibles.
